So TorrentSpy, a bittorrent indexing site, was recently found guilty of copyright infringement for $110 million dollars by a judge in California.
A lot of people are saying this is a huge step forward for the anti-piracy movement. However, lets look at one very simple fact. TorrentSpy has, for the better part of a year now, denied access to American users looking for Music or Movie torrents on their website, in a step to try and avoid this very situation!
A similar lawsuit, also by the MPAA was announced to be in the works against The Pirate Bay. What a waste of time. If being raided by police taskforce only brings TPB down for one day, what hope can any American layer have at bringing them down.
Apparently, the MPAA hasn’t read the news on how horribly the RIAA has failed at trying to control piracy by simple denial of service. Silly rabbit, trix are for kids.
